1st Quarter

1st image of the season - thank you weather x
Just a pity, I'm back on nightshift tonigh, that's a bummer! Lets hope there's
more clear nights to come...

Notes:
Image is nowhere near as sharp as it should be, camera tripods are not designed
to carry these weight loads (that's why telescope mounts have large heavy counterweights). Sharpened to within an inch of it's life in Photoshoppe!

Telescope used was a 80-cm Widefield fast refractor. Good for diffuse objects like nebula, galaxies. Too fast for planetary imaging.

Always use mirror lockup if available to reduce vibration. I had problems with traffic on the main road causing unwanted vibrations !!!

ALWAYS expose -2 stops to keep the background dark if you can - you can always recover in RAW.

If imaging Earthshine (the unlit part of the moon), always overexpose, or make a composite of two images...

EXIF additional data:
f/5 @ 800mm effective focal length (400mm + 2x Barlow)
