Kilnaruane stone 3

Anyway, today travellersjoy and I had a jaunt!! She is the perfect companion in crime as she is fearless, nosey, a blipper and intrigued by all things abandoned! We visited various holy wells, trudging up to out knees in nettles and bracken; gawped over the edge of cliffs  and ended up here at the Kilnaruane stone which I have blipped before and you can find out all about it at this link, if you're interested.  Its is sited in an amazing spot, high up on a hill with vast views all around. It is a highly significant early Christian stone with some amazing carvings and, although a metal barrier now encloses it to keep out the odd cow, is just being left to slowly deteriorate.  Worth looking at in large as the light on the hill with the sheep was amazing.
