Mughetto

Common Inkcap

A dark wet morning, though very mild for early November. It seems to have been dry for weeks but as we are having some work done on the house today it is raining. Because of the work it is difficult to have trips away from home so I strayed as far as the neighbours lawn. Here we see Coprinopsis atramentaria which appears to be growing in grass but is making use of buried wood. This group has been there for five days already and is falling apart and deliquescing which they do to enhance spore dispersal.
