The Gazweasel Times

Neanderthal

Today at lunchtime I thought I'd try for the Natural History Museum again. There were no crowds outside the door, after all. And it wasn't too bad (if I ignore the three school groups).

I found this wonderful jumble of bones. It's all that remains of a Homo neanderthalensis. He is about 60,000 years old (that's about 4,800 in Biblical counting) so is it any wonder he doesn't look too good. He was found in Israel.

Sadly, it's actually a cast - I have no idea where the original is - but it still looks pretty good.
