Our life in the Borders

Where the trains used to run...

This part of the Borders was criss crossed by rural railways. Some, no doubt, had outlived their usefulness, but the early 1960s saw the closure of all of them. The tracks were taken up and only the embankments remain. This happened, with staggering lack of foresight, all over the UK.

Now one line is to be restored and reopened. Not this one however. This will remain a footpath following the banks of the Tweed.
