Tender moment during the rut

Was spoiled for choice after a spell watching these deer in Ashton Court. This fellow was quite lame and had obviously had to fight hard to win his harem. There were larger stags around eating, sleeping or just resting so maybe they were exhausted and recharging their batteries for the next assault for supremacy over the herd! Some more pics here
