These are the words that Alex can confidently read. It may not look like much but he is doing really well at such an early stage in his school life. We know from his teachers' feedback that he is really keen to learn and and we know from his reading that he has already sussed out how to blend sounds together to make words.

We allowed ourselves the possibility that he would not thrive as well as Becky had because Alex started school a whole nine months younger than Becky's starting age. However, he is every bit as keen and, it transpires, very capable.
