wander, stumble, wonder

Battered

The Education Department Swimming Pool. The D.R. Plaister Aquatic House. The Molle St Pool. This is where half the people in Hobart learnt to swim. Come rain, come shine, there was swimming to be done. Some days it was so cold out of the pool there were big clouds of fog hovering over the surface of the water. I can never remember actually being warm at this pool though, not sure if we always had lessons in autumn and spring, on cold days, if the water was colder than ideal, or if I've just blocked those few good times out. And now it's closed. It wouldn't be surprising if the water's still in the pool, but that would be about all that's left - the windows were smashed long ago, padlocks and metal grills have been replaced many times as people seek shelter inside the long-abandoned change rooms.

I often walk past this building, and this is nothing like the best photo that could happen, but this is also a backblip and needs must. I shall keep trying, and one day will actually succeed in getting just the right shot.
