Another Languedoc year...

Vines

After posting yesterday's blip I've been wondering which grape varieties are which colour at this time of year.

Whilst ambling round our vineyard with the dogs today, I picked these four samples. From left to right they are Syrah, Carignan, Grenache and Cinsault - all typical varieties of the Languedoc.

I still don't know what the deep red ones from yesterday are. A fellow blipper suggested they may be Carignan and she may be right, but Carignan is so common here that we'd expect at least 20% of the vines to be that colour, but they are less common than that. Any other suggestions?
