Our life in the Borders

Tree trunk

At the back of the house is a row of rowan trees. This is a tree that I like, with its blossom and berries. Rowan, along with the aspen, would have been part of the original forest, so it feels right to have them here. However, they are quite tall and leggy, so today George came to prune them into a better shape.
One had to come down, fortunately the most spindley, to make way for the new shed.

The light was fading, so I used the flash, so the colours now look really intense, and I like the contrast between the wood and the stones.
