Remembrance Day

Remembering the liberation of the Netherlands by Canadian soldiers. 1955 the tenth anniversary of the liberation I received a commemorative porcelain beaker at school. 1995 the fiftieth anniversary we were in the Netherlands on vacation where we purchased several commemorative tins of orange sprinkles.

My father is the soldier in uniform. He served in the Dutch army at the beginning of World War Two. My father died May 5th 1997, Liberation Day in the Netherlands.

The book of photographs has a photo of a bombed house in the town where my father was born. I saw that bombed house as a child when I vacationed with family.
