Armistice Day, Field of Remembrance, Princes St.

I remember reading Wilfred Owen's 'Exposure' at school and it really sparked an interest in me in the 1st world war, so much so, that I went to study it as part of my history degree at the University of Wales.

Here is the first stanza:

Our brains ache, in the merciless iced east winds that knife us ...
Wearied we keep awake because the night is silent ...
Low drooping flares confuse our memory of the salient ...
Worried by silence, sentries whisper, curious, nervous,
But nothing happens.
