Once a Day in the West

Fun and Games at Pony Club

Small shrieking girls (9 of them!), grumpy ponies, a picnic lunch al fresco and in the sun, all adds up to another lovely day at Ardlamont at Pony Club. This time it was Betty's turn to fall slowly and quite dramatically off her pony - but she got back on a wee while later.

And, for the adults, the beached whale we saw a month ago is still there, so, of course, we just had to shuffle off down the beach to check on the levels of decomposition. Surprisingly, it wasn't too smelly unless you got upwind of it, but it seems to have developed an odd, woolly looking covering and has some large holes where the gulls and corbies have been pecking at it. Be interesting to see it in another month and see how nature is dealing with it. On the downside, one of the dogs rolled around on it's tongue and so the scent of dead whale followed us all the way back to the stables - nice! Thank the lord said dog was not traveling home with any of us!!

Got some nice macro shots on the beach, but the girls exuberance overcame my arty inclinations, especially as the one on the left belongs to me!
