Jelly ear fungus

Went for a long walk with L. It was misty all day, and not great for photography. We saw a hare (too fast for a picture) and this fungus. I haven't seen it before; it's an Auricularia, and probably A. auricula-judae, the most common one in the UK.

The common name is Jew's ear, originally Judas's ear, because the fungus grows mostly on elder trees, and in legend Judas hung himself from an elder. Some think that name is offensive, so jelly ear is a safer name.
