How close can you get

On Thursday June 12, at 6.10am this happened, without warning or the assistance of the tinyist of a breeze.
There was a shrill crack and then what sounded like a million bricks falling, A very old horse chestnut tree had called it a day.
I looked out the bedroom window from inside the red brick wall and realised we were still alive, because with a 90 degree turn in direction we would be dead.
