St George's Schools

Spotted this as I walked into the town centre from the train station today. An intriguing carving as underneath a more modern set of writing says Masonic Hall and there is a metal plaque by the door for the W.I.

The schools were built in 1853 but as yet Google hasn't supplied the date they stopped being a school and when the Freemasons moved in!
