Scotland's History Festival #RLSDay

Unexpected and very pleasant surprise to get an email today confirming that there were some extra tickets for the Robert Louis Stevenson event - one of the opening items of the Scotland's History Festival which is in it's first year.

Ian Rankin and Nigel Planer talked about their introduction to the works of Stevenson via comic books of Treasure Island and Kidnapped. Ian Rankin read excerpts from 'Edinburgh: Picturesque Notes' and Nigel Planer talked about his interest in 'Travels with a Donkey in the Cévennes'.

There was plenty of interesting discussion, and what came home to me was the diversity of Stevenson's works - truly something for every age and interest range.

There were other events on throughout the day, and it looks like RLS Day will become an annual celebration. Hope the Scotland's History Festival will also become a permanent fixture, as us holiday home owners could do with something to attract visitors in November - short break anyone?
