Starry Eyed Surprise

Enchanting

A wonderfully relaxing and civilised afternoon spent in Wells today.

For a child who hated going to church, and even protested by wearing a 'devil horns ' hairband in church (...it was a sign and I chose to ignore it. silly me!) Claire loves going into the Cathedral. We must have spent about 2 hours in there this afternoon.

This is one of the reasons why we spent such a long time there. This is the Wells Cathedral School of Music's Chamber and String orchestras rehersing for this evening's concert conducted by Matthew Souter.

The music was divine.

So much so, that it evoked some very powerful and happy memories of playing in orchestras and just how I would become totally submerged in the power of the music.

They were rehersing one of my favourite pieces of music; Barber's Adagio for Strings

Hypnotising.

Beethoven's Symphony No 7 in A and Mozart's Piano Concerto No2 in D min were also very enjoyable.

The concert was held tonight at 7pm and was being recorded for Classic FM, which I look forward to hearing soon.

Claire found an wonderful 'room of requirement' as she has nicknamed it, in the
Cathedral. It was up a 'secret staircase' and really was very impressive.

I think I'll put a couple of pictures on my folio and a few on Facebook.

And of course no visit to the Cathedral would be complete without a 'chat' to the Cathedral Cat, Lewis. A huge ginger tom.

And of course no visit to Wells would be complete without a coffee and warm slice of granny's apple pie and whipped cream at Coffee No 1.
