If they're going to shut off the west foot/cycle path on the road bridge they could at least have a big sign stating this on the east path so that people thinking they'll cycle back on the other side for a change don't carry their bike all the way down the steps, under the bridge then up the steps on the other side before discovering the closure and having to return.

There should likewise be some bins along the path so that the cores of apples eaten on the way over can be disposed of rather than carried all the way to the end whilst the hand itches to drop it into the Forth, the urge entirely down to the signs saying "don't drop things off the bridge".
