A year of adventure

Days 27 to 41

Really haven't kept up with taking photos and uploading these...

Tuesday 1st November:
Today we did a stock take at the club in the morning of all the plates and everything there ahead of some of the events coming up in the next few months and then I was helping to sort out the accounts and things. Then this afternoon we sorted some more things out around the house and tidied up.

Wednesday 2nd November:
This morning we just did general admin type stuff. This afternoon we had to go over to Leeuwenbosch to collect some things from Will's house and sort a few things out. Aunt Rose gave us lunch, which was really nice and it was nice to spend some time away from the club. Then this evening it was the social sports evening at the club, so we went over there. There were a fair few people there and we sat and chatted for a while which was nice, then we came home and had dinner and went to bed.

Thursday 3rd November:
Today we sorted things out this morning and I went though and found email addresses and photos on Will's hard-drive for the Vets go Wild courses that he runs, so that he has a full list of contact details and group photos of each course. Then this afternoon when we had finished work we went for a little walk, just up to the little road running to the club and onto the bridge to look at the river. We needed to stretch our legs and just get out of the house for a little while. Then we came home, had dinner and watched Dirty Dancing, which I hadn't seen before as I had just never got around to watching it. It was really good and nice to chill and chat to Stacey too. Also a month today Sam arrives.

Friday 4th November:
Today we have been doing more of the VGW photos for Will and sorting some other things out. This evening we were meant to open the club, but no one came so we didn't. Kyle, one of the rangers from the reserve came to our house and we all hung out and drank red wine, it was really good fun. We didn't get to bed until about 3.30 though.

Saturday 5th November:
Today there was cricket on at the club, so we have been over there all day with them. The guys stayed for a long time after the match, the last one didn't leave until about 10 o'clock, they finished playing at about 1. They were really nice guys though and it was good fun.

Sunday 6th November:
Today we didn't have to do anything so we chilled out and watched films. We watched Fried Green Tomatoes and Out of Africa. It was lovely. The films were really good, I hadn't seen them before.

Monday 7th November:
This morning we cleaned the house and sorted things out in the morning and then in the afternoon we did some of the accounting stuff for Will.

Tuesday 8th November:
Today we did more of the accounts and some other filing and things. Then this afternoon we got a lift to Grahamstown with one of the land owners of the reserve and went to stay with Stacey's mum. We have a conference at the club on Thursday so there were some things that we needed to get in town. It was lovely to be somewhere other than at the club for a while. We helped Stacey's mum to sort out some of her work things while we were there, as she needed Stacey's help to do it on the computer.

Wednesday 9th November:
Today we got up and went to the supermarket and bought a load of things for the club and for the function on Thursday. When we were done Stacey's dad picked us up as we couldn't carry everything back to her mum's house. Then we went to Spur for cooked breakfast and I had a latte too... I hadn't had a latte since I have been over here and at home I got for coffee at least once a week... It wasn't as good as Starbucks, but it was still nice. Then we did a few more jobs and then went back to the supermarket to buy food for ourselves. Uncle Bill and Aunt Rose collected us and bought us back to the club, as they were in town this morning. This evening we went over and opened the club for the social sports evening.

Thursday 10th November:
Today was the Farmers Association AGM at the club. So we spent this morning cooking and sorting things out ready for that. They all arrived at about 4 o'clock and started their meeting. Once they had finished I went and served drinks behind the bar and Stacey sorted the food out and put it out for them. It went really well and everyone said it had been lovely. It was the first external function at the club and so for a first attempt it went brilliantly. We finished there at about 9.30 and came home and went to bed, because we were shattered.

Friday 11 November:
Today we did some more of the office work that Will left us before he went to the UK. He is back tomorrow, but we won't see him until Monday. Then we went over and opened up the club ready for this evening. There were a few of the young rangers that came this evening and it was really good fun. They all left at about midnight and then Stacey and I stayed up and chatted for a while and then we went to bed.

Saturday 12 November:
Today we got up a little later as we have had a really busy few days. Stacey's cousins were going through to PE today so they stopped in to say hello. There was supposed to be cricket here today, but they cancelled because the other side couldn't get a team together. So we have a quieter day today. In the end Stacey's cousins stayed all day and overnight, we had a braai at lunch and then just chilled out this afternoon.

Sunday 13th November:
Today we sorted stuff out and tidied up the house. Then this evening some of the rangers came to the club for a braai and to party. It was really good fun.

Monday 14th November:
William is back from the UK now so he came to the house this morning for a meeting and gave Stacey and I some things to do before he came back this afternoon. We went with Will to Grahamstown this afternoon, as Stacey has leave this week and asked Will if I can go with her, as he can collect me from Grahamstown if he needs me as he lives in Grahamstown during the week. So this evening we had dinner with Stacey's mum and then chilled out and went to bed fairly early as tomorrow is going to be busy.

Tuesday 15th November:
Today Will collected us at about 10 o'clock to go to a reserve not far from Grahamstown called Pumba to dart some lion which are being sold, Stacey is on leave this week, but she hasn't worked with lion before so she wanted to come with us. When we got there Will told me that I would need to drive his car on the reserve as he was going in the game viewer to dart the lion, so that was a little bit scary as his car is a lot bigger than mine and I've never driven on the sort of roads and off-road bits that are in the reserves. It was fine though, we had to go out of the reserve and then in at another entrance so I had a chance to get used to it first. It was two male lion that were darted. They had to be microchipped and checked over and then loaded into crates. It didn't take very long at all. It was very exciting though. Then this afternoon we went back into Grahamstown and Stacey and I took Will's car to Staceys dad's house so that we could unload all of the boxes and tidy them up, as William had to go somewhere with Heidi. When we met up with Will again he told us that there was a new Rhino being delivered to Amakhala and they were hoping it would arrive before sunset so that it could be released and did we want to come back to the reserve with him, so we went. We went to Leeuwenbosch to wait and see what was going to happen and we did some of the accounts while we were waiting. In the end the Rhino arrived at about 9.30 so it was already dark, so Will had a look at it and then we left to go back to Grahamstown.
