Contested territory

Tea with Parliamentarians today in the Pugin Room at the House of Commons.

But this room is the centre of a territorial dispute between the House of Commons and the House of Lords...

The Pugin Room is a small tea room, overlooking the Thames, and is on red carpet (which normally indicates that it is House of Lords territory). However, it is used by the Commons and not the Lords. The Room was given over by the Lords to the Commons in 1906 in return for the use of a committee room. The Lords now want it back but the Commons refuse to budge!
