Black Isle

It's Tuesday so it's the day for trip out in the minibus. We headed over to the Black Isle and for the second week running we decided to use the minibus as a roving classroom and see what we could see. Lots of things of interest ranging from a field of turkeys to oil rigs in for repair in Invergordon.

The beautiful weather had encouraged lots of farmers out and we saw them feeding hay to cows, and ploughing fields. It is not long since the crops of barley were harvested and now they are ploughing in the stubble ,no doubt to plant with a winter crop. The black Isle is known for it's rich dark fertile soil which you can see contrasting with the still to be ploughed side of stubble.
