I just don't get it

I have been looking at this the last two nights and I have bounced back and forward between art and rubbish. Either way (I have now decided) someone (a buyer no doubt for Hilton) decided it was art and paid money for it.

I now wonder what it was that convinced them to buy it and how they decided what to buy. There is so much other work out there that wouldn't have guests wondering if it was indeed art, it would have been obvious and more appreciated. So why choose something like this?

Or is it just me?
