Thanksgiving Day at Beth Israel

This is the stained glass panel in the lobby of the Farr Building at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. For those of you who have not been following my story, this is the teaching hospital for Harvard Medical School and my husband Bruce has been a patient here for several weeks. He has an undiagnosed inflammatory condition and the teams of doctors are debating over what is wrong with him, and what to do about it.

Meanwhile, we wait.

Yesterday he seemed better. All three of our boys were here and he joked and laughed with them. Today he is much worse again and his fever has gone way up. They are waiting for blood test results before adjusting his medication, though it is obviously not working.

Naturally, all the labs are pretty much closed down for the holiday. Nothing is happening quickly.

It's very frustrating and he is suffering.
