Goodbye urban park hello soulless shopping center

I had no idea that the urban park in Bradford was closing and last night was its final night until a friend told me there was an event to mark the occasion so we trundled along & what an event it was!

Food & drink, shadow theatre from Huge Jart, eastern European music, brass band, fire sculptures & a symbolic burning of the Westfield sign which had (over three days) been turned into a gladiator!

Great night & sad to see the park go as it was a great space to have for events alas now to be replaced with the shiny blank eyed stare of corporate culture!

I can hear them screaming already - "Buy things you bastards! Buy things and make us rich!"

There has to be a better way to live than consuming ever more crap to make us 'feel like somebody' (you already are somebody!) & bolster our flagging self confidence.

Perhaps if we all had "one day you'll be dead & non of this will matter" tattooed on all our heads we would live more authentically?

Sorry I went off on one there lol

Here's a few more pics from an enchanted evening
