Problems with the house swap.

People who don't live in my area and never have, have been telling Shena (from the other house) horror storries about my area. She brought all this up at the meeting we had to sign the papers saying we agreed to swap.

The problem with my area is it had a bad reputation up untill quite a few years back. Since then all the flats have been knocked down, most of the council tennants moved and the area is now more housing association or bought.

The problem with these people is they have never been here let alone lived here and have no idea what the area is like other than 1 or 2 storries in the paper over the last few years.

There was an 'incident' up here earlier in the year but it's one of these things that's never likely to happen again. As for her area, there was a murder on The Law (hill) a few years back and a headless body found 10 years ago. Much worse than anything here (She pointed these out herself).

The housing officer put her mind at rest as I did when we got back to my place. Pluss the fact that she's now been up here 5 or 6 times sitting for up to 2 hours at a time. She can see it's quiet and I have nice and quiet neighbours.

She's getting in touch with someone at the police station for more information then getting back to me with her decision although she says she's 99.9% still wanting to go ahead with the swap.

So at the moment we have both signed to say we want to swap. The next step is both our houses are inspected, then the housing officers sit down and decide if we can go ahead. If we get the go-ahead, we then set a date to sign for the other house...

Fingers crossed!
