Rockferry Pier

I had a great Pier Themed Day Out with my Blipper friend, Terry today. There was so much going on at the Rockferry pier, it was at times quite scary. The Pier is in such a state it is only a matter of time when it will collapse away forever*. Thanks to a local, we were told the crane shown is disused as it had had large chunks steel taken off the arm (a closer look reveals this). And also there used to be another crane next to it, which had crumpled under it's own weight due to corrosion below. The tide was still coming in during shooting and almost washed our equipment away on a couple of occasions. But we had to escape to Eastham for lunch in the end as we had to get away from some horrible smoke from a nearby fire.

This is (after painfully rejecting perfectly good Blips) proberbly the trump Blip from my camera. The cloudy day made it very tricky to get what I wanted in Infrared (Hoya R72 filter). However, it was the misty water effect I was after, taking advantage of the 30s exposure - the Mersey River was VERY rough indeed.

Looks like my IR filters are gonna have to hibernate for now :-(

*If anyone is considering visiting this Pier there is NO access to it due to it's unsafe condition. You've been warned!
