Feeding the birds at Hogganfield Loch

Took the grandchildren to Hogganfield Loch to feed the birds. The Glasgow local group of the RSPB go once a month with barley seed which they give out in plastic cups to encourage the public to feed the birds other things that are more nutritious than bread.

Today we saw mute and whooper swans, mallard, tuffed and golden eye ducks, goosanders, various gulls and a large flock of greylag geese which flew over and landed on the far side of the loch. On the left of the photo there is a juvenile whooper swan - grey with white on its beak. It was obviously hungry after its migration from Iceland as it kept attacking the other swans in order to get to the barley.
