Pancake Rocks

On our way from Franz Josef to Hector we stopped to see the Pancake Rocks and Blow Hole at Punakaiki along the West Coast. The limestone rocks have formed shapes like huge stacks of pancakes, apparently no one knows quite why this has happened. The sea roars in through the rocks and bursts out through vertical blow holes. It's quite spectacular when huge waves come rolling in to shore.
