Japanese vase

I was once again looking around my home to find blip potential, when my eyes landed on this vase (actually twin vases) on top of my kitchen cupboard (only place where I'm sure they're safe !). They were made in Japan, but I have absolutely no idea where my grandmother got them from, or why. Now they are in my apartment and must be the oldest objects around, but strangely, they seem to belong here... I do like them very much.
