Enzo the Baker

lens arrived. This one sits straight on the camera body and does all the autofocus stuff - much easier to use than my old OM lens which, though wonderful optically, sits on the end of a bellows and means using a tripod, manual aperture settings and so on.

Now I can catch words before the ink dries.

Combined Cadet Force day - sixteen boys can now (sort of) manage a bowline, reef knot, round turn and two half hitches, clove hitch and sheet bend. They can seal the end of nylon and polypropylene lines with a (nicely scented) candle flame.

And while I was observing the Petty Officers teaching bends and hitches, First aid was in another room. Little Annie has been assessed for danger, tested for response, had her airway checked, breathing sought for and circulation found to be wanting - and "Nellie the Elephant" chanted while crunching her little plastic ribcage. Although one of the POs prefers the similar rhythm and black humour of "Another One Bites the Dust".
