Norwich Thorpe Station

In May 1844 the first railway in Norfolk opened between Great Yarmouth and Norwich Thorpe. The line to London was opened in 1849 originally to another station Norwich Victoria, and eventually service were concentrated by the Great Eastern Railway at Thorpe Station.

Norwich Thorpe remains the principal station in Norwich.

The current rather pleasing building was opened in 1886 to a design by the GER engineer John Wilson. for a cost of £60,000.
