Mohawk Trail State Forest

What an amazing day. We drove through thick woodland - trees, trees everywhere. It must be amazing in autumn. As it was, the bear oak was budding red so we had a small glimpse of what it must be like. After a museum trip in North Adams, and a great chat with the museum lady, we drove to Mohawk Trail State Forest and camped beside the river. We climbed up the hill to look at the wooded view and F almost stepped on a snake - it didn't turn on him and just tried to be very still and un-noticed. Still, for people who aren't used to seeing snakes, it was a little shocking! I chased yet more birds for photographs, and caught the snake, too, but it's time for a landscape shot!
