Beer tasting in Nelson

Officially the first day of summer! The sun was shining, it was warm and we were on our way to taste as much free beer as we could get our hands on. Not a bad itinerary for the day!

After a quick visit to the Oldest Pub in New Zealand and a few tastings there we went on to the McCashin Brewery in Stoke where we sampled around 15 beers brewed on site and a couple of ciders. We were delighted to find one of them was called Rochdale Cider, we didn't really like it but the reference to home made us smile. We reached Nelson and our hostel for the night, pleased at being able to leave the car. We headed into town to visit the Free House Pub. The rest is a bit of a blur, having missed lunch we sampled many more local beers and got the smallest Ploughmans in the world. Somehow we ended up at the cinema (no beer there) and watched 'Midnight in Paris'. Dee and Rob we really missed you today!
