Road to Norseman

I was checking reserve fences for the RSPB in Rendall today. The weather was pretty calm until about the last stretch, then I saw snowclouds approaching. I was caught in a bit of a blizzard but was quite near a bus shelter so was fine. I had coffee, took photos and listened to my MP3 until the bus came.

I quite enjoyed the wait; the clouds were amazing as the storm passed to the east.
Birds seen included fieldfares, redwings, a short-eared owl, red grouse, snipe etc. Most impressive though was the tiny chiffchaff feeding near the shelter during the snow. Most of its fellow warblers are in Africa by now.

More shots here.
