Arresting Images

The Archives of Ontario has a really interesting exhibit titled Arresting Images: Mug Shots from the OPP Museum so my boss and I went to see it at lunch today. We didn't have to travel far, the Archives are next door to our offices at York University. It's a fascinating look at early mug shots of criminals and suspects from the 1880s through around 1905. Lots of pickpockets, con men, and few horse thieves. A few lady criminals and suspects - thieves and con artists but no prostitutes. Apparently - and surprisingly, the Archives have no such photos.

The title of the exhibit is clever and I used it for my blip title which is a double entendre as well signifying the title of the show but also the poster is seemingly behind bars - namely shadows of my window blinds (blinds justice?).
