Hansen Hospital

This is a very old hospital in Jerusalem Israel which was originally started in the 1800s as a self sustaining hospital for leprosy patients. The grounds of this hospital produced it's own crops and livestock to supply not only the patients but the staff as well. It was originally started by Moravian Christians from Herenhaut Germany. This hospital functioned from the late 1800s through 2000 and minimally for outpatients only up until 2006 or thereabouts.
The huge complex recently has been turned into a museum and arts and crafts place of display. This photo, taken today, is one where some Moravian folk were being shown around the building and grounds.
The grounds of this place is where the spirit of God can still be sensed. There is a sense of peace that pervades the atmosphere.
