Lunar Eclipse

We were very fortunate to have crystal clear skies here in the Pacific Northwest for this morning's lunar eclipse. This is a very rare selenelion, or "impossible", eclipse where the rising sun AND the eclipsed moon can be seen at the same time in certain parts of the world. It's all due to atmospheric refraction...

The best photos, however, were during totality. I was able to include some trees for framing and dragged the shutter to allow the sky and stars to appear as well. A rare treat to see the full moon and all the stars around it as well. Usually it's too bright...

Shortly after I captured this shot, the skies quickly clouded over and the show was over...
