Mistletoe is Västmanland county flower

Mistletoe is very well known to many botanical peculiarities. Mistletoe is present only as a semi-parasitic on trees, usually on the branches and twigs high in the crown. It grows as a dense rounded shrub that is most visible when the tree is stripped. Mistletoe has namely evergreen leaves. In the Nordic countries is rare and is found in the forest-rich areas in southern Scandinavia, for example, in eastern Småland, on the Malar Islands, on Kinnekulle and in southeastern Norway. It grows mostly on the windings. In central Europe it is more common and have been observed at nearly the kind of trees at any time. That mistletoe is a parasite from the fact that its root pierces the tree's bark, penetrates between the bark and the wood and reduces short branches into vedmassan. The plant has so much chlorophyll that its own photosynthesis is sufficient for its energy needs. It is therefore classified as half the parasites.
