unexpected pleasures

Had a rather lovely unexpected experience today. Went Xmas shopping in my local town- got everything I wanted and then decided to go to an Italian delecatessan expecting to buy olives or atrichokes in oil and the like. It has chaged owners since I was there last so I had to get some spicy pasta with bell peppers, olives, feta and very spicy meat slices. They unexpectedly heated it to piping hot before slathering it in pesto and grated parmesan and giving it to me to take out. I drove to my favourite secret spot a few miles out of town and sat underneath the scotch pines, admiring the views and eating before the 10 mile drive home :-)
