Ladies in Red

This afternoon my daughter-in-law and I went to a huge shopping mall called The Fashion Show. We are going to a Christmas Dinner for the Squadron tomorrow night and needed just a couple of extra bits of bling, among other things. The dinner is to be held at the top of the Stratosphere, which is the tallest casino, hotel and tower on the Strip as it soars 100 floors above the city at 1,149 feet and boasts the tallest freestanding observation tower in the USA. It is at the opposite end of the Strip to the Mandalay Bay which we visited a couple of days ago and I am hoping to get another really good view of the Strip from the other direction as long as I don't feel sea sick, as I am told the tower rotates 360' as you dine! In any event the night will undoubtedly be a long one so tomorrow's blip entry may be a bit delayed!

The Fashion Show Mall is so called because at certain times of the day a large rectangle of the concourse floor becomes raised to form the platform for a live fashion show. Quite spectacular. The shopping experience was different too as there were so few names that I recognised plus it was far less frenetic than being in a shopping centre in UK during the week immediately prior to Christmas. It was a very successful expedition as there were numerous opportunities to purchase bling and we were spoiled for choice - but we managed. We also found a lovely dress and pair of shoes for Sharon. During the afternoon we also left time to enjoy some delicious frozen yoghourt in a large tub which we had filled ourselves from a good selection of fruit flavours including pressed mango, passionfruit and raspberry.

Armed with several bags of shopping we eventually made our home well after 6 o'clock and it was from the moving car that I managed to take the photo of the Stratosphere lit up, which is why it is a bit out of focus. That didn't matter as I had already decided that my blip of the day had to be of the two wonderful Ladies in Red who caught my eye as we travelled up one of the escalators to the top floor of the Mall . They looked so glamorous and festive and I particularly liked their splendid jaunty hats.
