Christmas Strike Threat

***BREAKING NEWS*** Demonstrations were held in a number of towns and cities today as Santa's Elves protested about their pay and working conditions.

In Glasgow half a dozen placard waving Elves burst into the Christmas Fair in George Square demanding immediate action from their employers to improve pay and working conditions. They urged members of the public to sign their petition, which they hope will put pressure on the employers in the run up to Christmas. The Elves were noisy but good natured as they explained their demands. The Elves' spokesman, photographed above, told our Blip reporter at the scene "we are expected to work 24 hours a day in December and build increasingly complex toys that children are asking for". He continued "The skills required to build an X-Box are considerable compared with a dolls house - yet our pay and conditions have remained the same".

As the Elves became increasingly animated, the spokesman made clear "If our demands are not met we will not be making any further toys and will not be assisting Santa with his Christmas Day deliveries". However, on a more conciliatory note the spokesman said " If enough members of the public sign our petition we may reconsider our actions". Here's hoping the Elves back down or there will be a lot of disappointed children at Christmas.
