Right Whale Bay

Our final landing in South Georgia was going to be the small King Penguin colony at Right Whale Bay. The weather thought otherwise - the clouds were low, and the wind was gusting at over 30 knots.

Our guides did, briefly, try to take a zodiac out but came to the conclusion that it wasn't a good idea. We waited for a couple of hours to see if the conditions improved - they didn't, so the decision was made to head north-west towards the Falkland Islands a few hours early.

The reminder from todays weather is how lucky we've been with weather over the last six days where we have managed to have 12 excursions involving either landings or zodiac cruises.

Next stop Stanley in the Falkland Islands.
