Hiking in winter

Another freezing day in the Mourne Mountains, also another enjoyable one!

We started the walk and all seemed fine, we didn't realise the path we took was sheltered from the sun from October until February so the snow and ice doesn't melt. We found out soon enough.

I love the top of the Mournes, each mountain, even though they are quite close together in mountain terms, has something different. The steps and stone building on this one (Slieve Donard) leave the ice chance to cling onto something and then get shaped by the wind. Looked amazing!

Also another walk under the belt and one more getting ready for the big challenge in August.
