La Madera Posada

We attended the posada de La Madera este noche. We had stumbled upon this neighborhood celebration when we were in Zihuatanejo last year, but this year we were prepared to attend this event. We arrived at the hour it was supposed to start, which means early in Mexican time, but that enabled us to get front row seats next to the stage. After sitting through about an hour of a "Christmas Story" play (which was a bit hard to follow in rapid-fire Spanish), the dancers finally took the stage. There were all levels performing, but I was especially taken by the colorful costumes of this group of mature dancers. They put on a good show for the 800 or so people gathered in the street around the stage and received enthusiastic applause at the end of their dance, as did every group that performed during the two hour show.
