Exposed!

The warm December sunshine opened this Crocus laevigatus w-i-d-e.

Unseasonably warm in the greenhouse, I found the cat sunbathing atop a bed of emerging bulbs :-( which are now protected by a web of sticks. At least the sunshine shows off the flowers nicely.

This crocus is a form of crocus laevigatus known as var Fontenayi, usually produces its heavily striped flowers very late in the year.
