A poppy blooms in winter

There's nothing exceptional about this oriental poppy apart from the fact that it has just burst into bloom two days before Christmas. These poppies usually flower in late spring. In fact, here's the same clump I blipped in May after Molly died. I miss her.

This time last year we had the heaviest snowfall and the coldest temps (-25C) I have ever experienced in all my years in Belgium. In stark contrast, today was warm at 11C. Looks like we're in for a balmy Christmas.
