Christmas tree from Norway

Every year Norway reminds us that a portion of the people in Iceland, the men mostly, came from Norway. The rest came from Ireland, mostly women, Scotland and even from Middle-Europa (Middle-Earth!).
The Norwegians do this by giving us a big tree to place on "Austurvöll" between the Oldest Parliament in the World and our small cathedral. Here you can see Austurvöll LIVE .
The statue to the right is of Jon Sigurdsson - our number one national hero.
