Ferguson in thought

This statue of Harry Ferguson stands at Growell, Dromore, County Down, in the Harry Ferguson Memorial Garden, directly opposite his family home. Harry Ferguson was a remarkable man - the first man to fly for three miles in Ireland; a driver and mechanic in the Ulster TT car racing on the Ards circuit; but he is best known for his work on agricultural machinery - inventing the Ferguson system for linking tractors and ploughs (and a host of other equipment), as well as the 'wee grey Fergie' tractor. His name lives on in the Massey Ferguson brand of tractors and machinery.
