On the subject of animals - and tracking - last night I crawled on my hands and knees up a hill trying to get as close as I could to a herd of fallow deer. Every time one of them looks up, I freeze. If they see me moving, then they're all off. The closer I get, the more difficult it is, and the more I'm frozen. About 50m away, one of them gets spooked and lets out a squeal. And they're off.

But it was cool to get so close.
